Big Post on the Waffle-Free Story Podcast & Story Journaling

Tina Konstant on Stories, Storytelling, and Story Journaling

The WHOLE Waffle-Free Storytelling Podcast, from start to now…

How it started...

A few years ago, I was locked in the grips of writer’s block. It wasn’t that I couldn’t or wasn’t writing; it was that I wasn’t writing anything I liked, and I certainly wasn’t publishing.

Part of my “Get Out Of Jail” mission included looking for a storytelling podcast where I could lose myself. I looked for weeks, but every podcast I found had minutes and minutes of jibber-jabber before the story, by which point I’d lost interest. After a string of such shows, I flung my arms in the air (sending my phone across the room) and said to my somewhat bewildered dogs: “Enough with the waffle!!!”

And so, The Waffle-Free Storytelling Podcast was born.

The first six stories I found were traditional tales I loved. Then I realised it would take as long to find stories I loved as it would to write new, original tales myself. And that’s what happened.

Since then, except for a few breaks here and there, a new waffle-free story (written and told by yours truly, unless otherwise stated) has been posted every Saturday. After a while, those stories found their way into books, and the Waffle-Free Collection began. It was at that point I looked around me and said, “Oh My Wow…I’m out, I’m free, I’m writing again.”

Story Journaling…

Story journaling is a thing of beauty. It’s a way to take your day, turn the bits that freak you out into metaphors, and go deep.

Using storytelling to explore issues that frustrate you removes the barriers.

THIS BIT IS STILL A WORK IN PROGESS

A bit of fun…
